01 · The base
Lean
The lower petals give the symbol a stable foundation. Lean Manufacturing brings disciplined methods, flow, continuous improvement and the involvement of people in reducing waste.
Method · Flow · Continuous improvement
Digital Green Lean brings industrial experience and doctoral research together. Its lotus expresses the same idea: different strengths, sharing one foundation and developing as a whole.
The identity continues the lotus associated with Excellence UAE, now with clearer geometry and three distinct gold tones. The new form reflects an integrated approach to Lean Manufacturing, Industry 4.0 and Circular Economy.
Construction of the symbol
Concept and reading of the symbol
The three layers give the logo its visual meaning. They connect the efficiency of Lean methods, the possibilities of Digital technology and the resource perspective of Circular Economy.
The petals reinforce one another. Their positions are a reading of the symbol, not an implementation sequence: Digital Green Lean develops the three agendas together, supported by people, culture and leadership.
Three visual levels
01 · The base
The lower petals give the symbol a stable foundation. Lean Manufacturing brings disciplined methods, flow, continuous improvement and the involvement of people in reducing waste.
Method · Flow · Continuous improvement
02 · The impulse
The middle petals extend the symbol outwards. Industry 4.0 brings data, connectivity and automation, helping people understand operations and act on useful evidence.
Data · Connectivity · Industry 4.0
03 · The purpose
The central petal points towards the wider purpose. Circular Economy brings resource stewardship, circular flows and attention to the environmental consequences of operational decisions.
Resources · Circularity · Sustainability
These are the three layers of the brand symbol. The three theoretical levels of the research - institutional context, organisational capabilities and managerial choices - are explained separately in Integration.
Explore integration and tensionsConstruction
All petals emerge from a common point. Visually, separate contributions belong to the same operation and the same transformation.
The designer uses axes at 0°, 30° and 60°, circular arcs and consistent separation. The symbol has order without losing the openness of a flower.
Bronze, old gold and champagne distinguish the three layers. Ivory provides space to read them; greens connect the identity to the wider Digital Green Lean website.
The lotus also carries a lasting idea from the earlier identity: valuable development can emerge from difficult conditions. In industry, improvement begins with the real process - its constraints, variation and waste - and grows through patient work with people.
Origins of the practice
The consultancy practice began with strategy, Operational Excellence and business transformation. This earlier work is part of the professional foundation of Digital Green Lean.
Gatell and Avella introduced Digital Green Lean in their first scientific publication, followed by a maturity model for culture and leadership. Read the first paper.
The doctorate at the University of Oviedo, supervised by Dr. Lucía Avella and awarded Cum Laude, brought the integrated framework, organisational capabilities and operational tensions together.
The current practice brings that research together with industrial and executive experience, supporting organisations as they turn connected transformation decisions into practical action.
The detailed professional history, roles and selected experience are available on DrGatell.com.
Put the idea into practice
Bring a question about productivity, technology, resource use or the capabilities needed for change. We can begin with a conversation, understand the context and agree a practical next step.
